Alaric I, also known as Flavius Alaric ( Flavius Alaricus in Latin, Alareiks in Gothic; Island of Peuce, in present-day Romania, circa 370 – Cosenza, 410), was king of the Visigoths from 395 until his death. He was the author of the famous sacking of Rome in 410, after which he died suddenly while heading, most likely, towards Africa.
