One-of-a-kind collector’s piece, assembled and painted on a wooden base.
This figurine, the result of the skill and talent of sculptor Doug Cohen, is a proud and honored addition to the MILITIA MODELS catalogue.
In truth, the subject has a long history. Originally created for the manufacturer Time Machine, it was subsequently part of the catalogue of the Italian company MMA of Ferrara for many years. It came to us only a few months ago, following our acquisition of the master and the rights directly from MMA, thanks to the generosity of its owner and our friend, Massimo Perencin.
The subject is intended as a three-dimensional rendition of an illustration by the great Angus McBride, created for the cover of issue no. 171 of the Men-At-Arms series published by Osprey (Saladin and The Saracens – Armies of the Middle East 1100–1300, text by David Nicolle, colour plates by Angus McBride; Men-At-Arms Series No. 171, Osprey Publishing, London, 1986).
And, in our humble opinion, when compared side by side with the original illustration, Doug Cohen’s sculpture seems to have achieved this goal remarkably well...
