The troops of the Duchy / Principality of Brunswick (Germany) in the theatre of the American Revolution — which inspired our small and, in its own way, “valiant” resin soldier — served as an auxiliary force to the British Army between 1776 and 1783.

Under the terms of the treaty signed with Great Britain in January 1776, the small state of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel was required to send to North America four infantry regiments, one dragoon regiment, one grenadier battalion, and one light infantry battalion.

Following this initial agreement, during the course of the war, the British government paid the Prince of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel a total of £750,000 for the use of his armed forces... (...)
